The recommended power-up sequence is to apply VCC first, followed by AVCC, and then the digital supply (DVCC). This ensures proper operation and prevents latch-up.
To ensure accurate voltage output, it is essential to use a high-precision voltage reference, such as the Texas Instruments REF5025. Additionally, ensure that the output voltage is buffered with an op-amp, such as the OPA333, to prevent loading effects.
The DAC8742HPBSR supports clock frequencies up to 50 MHz. However, it is recommended to operate the device at a clock frequency of 20 MHz or less to ensure reliable operation and minimize power consumption.
To implement a bipolar output voltage range, use an external amplifier, such as the OPA333, to invert and scale the output voltage. This allows the DAC to generate a bipolar output voltage range, such as ±10V, from a unipolar output voltage range, such as 0-20V.
To minimize noise and ensure reliable operation, it is recommended to follow a star-grounding layout, with the DAC's analog and digital grounds separated and connected at a single point. Additionally, use a 4-layer PCB with a dedicated power plane and a dedicated ground plane to minimize noise and crosstalk.
