A thermal pad on the bottom of the device should be connected to a large copper area on the PCB to dissipate heat. The copper area should be at least 1 inch x 1 inch in size and should be connected to a ground plane to minimize thermal resistance.

Use a voltage regulator to limit the input voltage to the recommended maximum of 30V. Add a current limiting resistor or a fuse in series with the device to prevent overcurrent. A TVS diode can also be used to protect against voltage spikes.

A gate drive circuit with a high current capability (e.g. TC4420) is recommended to quickly charge and discharge the gate capacitance. A gate resistor (e.g. 10 ohms) should be used to dampen oscillations.

Apply a negative voltage (e.g. -5V) to the gate terminal to ensure the device is fully turned off. This is especially important in applications where the device is used as a switch.

The maximum allowed case temperature is 150°C. However, it is recommended to keep the case temperature below 125°C to ensure reliable operation and long lifespan.
