ROHM recommends a 2-layer or 4-layer PCB with a thermal relief pattern under the IC to ensure efficient heat dissipation. A minimum of 1 oz copper thickness is recommended for the PCB.
To ensure stable output voltage regulation, it is recommended to use a high-quality output capacitor with low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) and a minimum capacitance of 10uF. Additionally, a 1uF ceramic capacitor should be placed close to the VIN pin to filter out high-frequency noise.
Although the datasheet specifies a maximum input voltage of 18V, it is recommended to limit the input voltage to 15V to ensure reliable operation and prevent damage to the internal circuitry.
While the BD67173NUX-E2 is rated for operation up to 105°C, it is recommended to derate the output current by 50% when operating above 85°C to ensure reliable operation and prevent overheating.
To troubleshoot output voltage instability or oscillation issues, check the PCB layout for any signs of noise coupling or electromagnetic interference (EMI). Ensure that the output capacitor is properly decoupled and that the input voltage is stable. Also, verify that the feedback resistors are properly selected and that the compensation network is correctly designed.
