Tip: Data for a part may vary between manufacturers. You can filter for manufacturers on the top of the page next to the part image and part number.
BC109B by SPC Multicomp is an Other Transistor.
Other Transistors are under the broader part category of Transistors.
A transistor is a small semiconductor device used to amplify, control, or create electrical signals. When selecting a transistor, factors such as voltage, current rating, gain, and power dissipation must be considered, with common types. Read more about Transistors on our Transistors part category page.

The maximum operating temperature range for the BC109B is -55°C to 150°C.
Yes, the BC109B can be used in switching applications, but it's not recommended due to its relatively low current gain and high saturation voltage. A more suitable transistor for switching applications would be the BC817 or BC327.
To ensure proper biasing for linear amplifier applications, use a voltage divider network to set the base voltage, and ensure the collector-emitter voltage is at least 2-3 times the supply voltage. Also, use a current-limiting resistor in the collector circuit to prevent overheating.
The maximum collector current rating for the BC109B is 100mA. Exceeding this rating may cause the transistor to overheat or fail.
The BC109B is not suitable for high-frequency applications due to its relatively low transition frequency (fT) of 250MHz. For high-frequency applications, consider using a transistor with a higher fT, such as the BC817 or 2N3904.
