The 6N136 can operate safely between -40°C to 100°C, but the optimal operating temperature range is between 0°C to 70°C for reliable performance.
To ensure proper biasing, the input diode should be forward-biased with a current between 1mA to 10mA, and the output transistor should be biased with a collector-emitter voltage between 4V to 10V.
To minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI) and ensure reliable operation, it is recommended to keep the input and output pins separate, with a minimum spacing of 1mm between them, and to use a ground plane to shield the device.
While the 6N136 is primarily designed for low-frequency applications, it can be used in high-frequency applications up to 1MHz with proper filtering and impedance matching to minimize signal distortion and ringing.
To protect the 6N136 from EOS and ESD, use a voltage limiter or transient voltage suppressor (TVS) on the input pins, and ensure that the device is handled and stored in an ESD-safe environment.
